Mickey Mouse Birthday Party

My kiddo has been obsessed with Mickey Mouse for most of his two’s so I didn’t have to think very hard on a theme for his third birthday party. Every morning he would ask to watch Mickey and he would have his favorite episodes that he would watch over and over. The decision came down to if we wanted to make it a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party or a Roadster Racer party. I ended up picking the Clubhouse route so we can have a hot dog bar. Ya know, hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog!! I can’t even say that without doing a little wiggle.

Now food is a big part of having a get together. I love making food for friends and family to enjoy. And having a party is a good way to try out new recipes and getting honest opinions. For this party I found some really fun recipes that were a huge hit. I really wanted to find a pasta salad so I could label it as a “Minnie Bow Tie Pasta”. The pizza pasta salad that I found was perfect. It as a sweet and salty mix that people of all ages enjoyed.

This fruit salad that I made was really yummy too, I was even getting requests later to make at other parties and pot lucks. Plus most kids like fruit, it is a healthy alternative to party foods. I also did the usual veggie plate and labeled it “Daisy’s garden veggies”. I placed a food tag on a cheese plate and called it “Donald’s Cheese and Quackers”. My family doesn’t usually drink any soda so lemonade is usually around at our house. We filled a huge dispenser full of it and tagged it as “Clarabelle’s Le-MOO-Nade”.

Cupcakes are my go to. I love cupcakes, and I usually get requests to make them. And come on, you have to have some kind of cake for a birthday party. My favorite to make are my vanilla cupcakes with almond buttercream frosting. I made the little mickey mouse topper from big and small Oreos and dunked them in black candy melts. They would have been just fine without the melted candy but I liked the smooth finish to them.

All in all, it was a great day! The weather was perfect for an early May birthday party. We were able to have it mostly outside while grilling hot dogs.
